Service Description

The programme arises from a broad study of local history conducted in 2021. Starting point is any Warsaw accomodation. Points of Interest reflect events of World War Two in a chronological order. 1. We start and end with the Wawer train station where first bombs fell in September 1939. 2. Then we willl come by places where the Wawer-massacre of December 1939 happened. First of its kind in Warsaw. "Wawer pomścimy" - We Will Avenge Wawer - the slogan became a motive for Warsaw resitance for the years to come. 3. 1942 has been the peak year of the Holocaust. Local railways took thousands of people to Treblinka. We will move along the railwy line visiting monuments commemorating the vibrant Jewish community of Wawer, Falenica and Radość. 4. Luckily there have been places in which - against all odds - Jewish people survived WW2 in Wawer and we will see them. 5. 1942 has also been the year in which Polish resistance declared the The Rail War. First bombings destroying railway lines appeared right here. 6. It took two more years for the Red Army and the First Polish Army to appear at the southern and eastern outskirts of Warsaw. We will discuss the monts of August and September 1944. The whole mighty Eastern Front stopped right between the Międzylesie train station and a factory turned into the local mall today. 7. A break throuh has been achieved in September 1944 only to stop on the eastern shore of the Vistula river for the the next 4 monts until January 1945. We will discuss it at a chapel made of fragmented shells fired at Wawer from behind Warsaw. Wawer is where I live for the last decades. Be my guest!
